The show that didn’t start it all, this isn’t the 90’s Fox Kids series, but the failed 1989 pilot. It’s still pretty great though, it’s got a cheesy theme song, and super corny intro narration by Stan Lee. The animation is amazing, it was done by Japans Toei Animation, who also did animation on Transformers, G.I. Joe, Muppet Babies, Inhumanoids, and even the first season of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The pilot also inspired the great Konami 1992 arcade game. My only real complaint is some of the voice acting, especially Wolverine, who for some reason has an Australian accent, kind of ironic, no?
If you some how come across it on video, get it, otherwise the whole thing is on YouTube.

I had about ten more of these, I know for sure that at least three broke, the others, I think I sold. I remember going to the store, and when I knew I would be getting one, I would stare at each box, trying to decide which I wanted the most. These are the life changing decisions you face when your 3.
The “Family Home Entertainment” (f.h.e) opening and closing bumper is forever etched in my mind. Years after the show wen’t off the air, and before the advent of DVD, I still put these in, it was the only way to get your Turtle fix. I have pretty much the entire series on DVD now, but it’s still fun to watch these. It’s takes you back to a time when you had no real worries and Ninja Turtles were the shit.
